1991 740 ran ou of gas, now won't start

My '91 740 ran out of gas. I put gas in but it won't start. Is there a switch or reset button somewhere?

Not for running out of fuel.

I agree with RocknTommy's point. Depending on the engine fitted you may have one or two fuel pumps.

It's very likely the fuel pump went. I was being optimistic! Thank you for your help.
