hello,
not sure if this is out there or not but here we go, I have a 2001 v70 T5. Every once in awhile, more recently lately, when I turn the key, all the dash lights come on but the car will not crank. If I hold the key in the on position, usually after about 20-30 seconds it will finally turn over.
Some issues: I sometimes have to do this mutiple times, last time it took nearly 45 minutes to get it to crank, also the immobilizer comes on but after locking and unlocking with the remote, the immobilizer will reset. I have already replaced the key ring sensor thingy(sorry not techy on the name).
typical Volvo, love/hate relationship.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
by the way no crank and already took in for the "recall issue" on the throttle control, seperate issue.
V70 t5, turn the key all systems seem to turn on, no crank
ok,
so I did find some similar issues and talked to a few friends.
After finding the starter, hahaha, not in the usual right side like older american cars. I checked the positive cable, there was some corrosion on it so I cleaned it up.
Not sure if this will solve the problem but I will let you know.
Remember, keep it simple stupid....

Could be a bad ignition switch.

thanks,
I will look into that, the cleaning did not seem to do anything, and something interesting yesterday. i parked it on a slight incline for about 24 hours, got in it and it would turn over but would not start. So, I figured maybe something with fuel pump or some other non-necessary technological advance.
Well, I let it roll back to level ground, if that makes any difference, and tried it a few more times, eventually it did start.
Got in it the morning and it started right up.
I had just filled up the tank (91) and drove it about 100 miles 80-90mph before parking it on the incline, if that makes any difference.
any ideas would be greatly appreciated, thinking it is time for a trade in.
