Whining from engine compartment at idle

2005 S40 T5 AWD
~50k miles
no modifications

I have started experiencing a high pitched whining or howling from the engine compt. It appears to be primarily when at idle, and once I start moving it seems to dissappear. I'm guessing its a belt but its hard to see in the compt to tell.

Any ideas are appreciated!

This sounds like the very common oil trap diaphram failure. It should be covered under the Volvo extended warranty, at no cost to you.
