Hi fetts, welcome to MVS

I've also had this problem on my 760, but it turned out to be a worn ignition switch believe it or not. Easiest way to check that is when the SRS light comes on, turn the key counter-clockwise without killing the engine. If the light goes out, then you've probably found the problem.

Report back your findings

Correct, in my case it would take about five seconds after moving the key back for the light to go out. But, this is a test you can do really quickly when starting up the car. When you turn the key to Position II, and all of the lights come on the instrument cluster, does SRS go out after a short bit?

tried what you said and noluck. my light is on all the time.
one of my concerns was inpection, i called the garage and
they said it didnt matter if it was on and it wouldnt pass if
the check engine light was on. thats another problem i have
i blew a head gasket a year ago and the check engine light
came on since the repair. im figuring the oxygen sensor.
do you have any thoughts? is there a way to test them with
a meter? thanks

I don't know if there's a way to test them directly with a meter but I believe your model is equipped with the self-diagnostics box which will allow you to pull the codes. The box is behind the driver side strut turret with a little cover that opens up...

Instructions on how exactly to pull codes here: http://swedishbricks.net/700900FAQ/Engi ... ic%20Codes

Also, as far as the SRS light. After you cleaned the contacts, did you reset the fault code?

I'm quite sure that's correct. However, I believe you can access the wires if you pull out the kick panel on the drivers side. There should be a cluster of wires and the yellow and orange connector should be under there. However, the standard warning applies take much care when working on the supplemental restraint system.. NEVER use any sort of powered meter like an ohm-meter on the SRS wires, it could result in the bag deploying. Also NEVER NEVER disconnect the orange and yellow wires from the crash sensor itself, else the bag will go off. Check out this thread for some helpful scans from Bill's workshop manuals: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... =2&t=20028
