Can an 82 244DL/GL use unleaded?

I'm looking at a 64k mile one owner 244 what fuel will it use?

I use unleaded in my 1982, Volvo 244 GL. Regulations in Sweden stated that after 1972 (or -73) every car should be able to run on unleaded, therefor the European models do, not sure about the american.

Any other info on this car would be great, what are they like to drive (I'm an anorak on classic minis) I've never driven a RWD car.

Anything to watch for? common probs?
