btw misha... This makes no sense for my vehical...
It would imply the following.
YV1- Manu code
L - P80
S- 4 Drs
55- B5254FS
1- Emmissions type ???
9- Gear box???
T-1996
1- fac code.
Then of course the number.

But then what is my Emmissions type and gear box?
Or is the emmissions 0-1 2-5 6+
and sim for gearbox

Once you get this car home, take some pictures of it. I would like to see what 500 bucks can get you.

That VIN decoder is specific to European models.

Don't be too cheap and blow the deal. Like I said, I cleared a nice chunk parting my 850, and it was na. If you don't jump on it for $500, somebody else will.

First off... the decoder misha supplied actually worked for my yr, and gearbox, not sure about emissions but don't really care to much about that right now... Thanks Misha

Question: I thought that ODB started in 1996. The title on this car says 95... the vin decoder says 95... but this car has an ODB plug... Is it just a really late 95???

Also it would be nice to know about the seats, if there is a good fix..

Ok to the photos...

I talked the guy down to $450.. i live off a major interstate in the country.. the guy who owned the car broke down.. one of the local small garages towed the car.. told the guy that the timing belt broke.. the guy was a college kid from WI... rather than messing with the car.. he signed the title over and went to a local dealership and bought a new car...
He just left the car here, and it was on its way to being scrap metal!!!

OBD II started in 1996 I believe. OBD I has been on the 850 since it was in production. So if you have a pre 96 you probably have OBD I and if it is 96 and later then it has OBD II. I'm having trouble understanding the 2nd part of your post...was the college kid driving the 850 turbo? And if you bought the car then congrats. I can't remember where, but somewhere on here there is a discussion of how to proceed after the timing belt breaks.

You should have both OBD-I and OBD-II on a 95 turbo. Volvo actually incorporated OBD-II in '94 on the turbo cars.

Nice find! How is the interior?

Thats some good info on the OBD.... it is a turbo.. So thanks Ozark Lee, it must be an OBD II...

Everything is telling me that it's a 95... Polska- yeah the kid was driving the 850 turbo (the one in the pic's, i just bought for $450)

If anyone can lead me to the Post or Thread of what to do after the timing belt breaks, I would appreciate it..

Lee- thanks for the info.. The interior is in really good shape except for the crapy leather volvo seats (Sorry RobTheModd) but everyone of these cars i have ran across, the front seats are shot...
They had an aftermarket stereo in the car and thats gone.. so there is a hole in the dash.. but other than that everything appears to be good..

Iselloil- I do plan on fixing this car up.. even if i have to rob from my 1997 na to do it... thanks for the tips on finding parts... "Check with toms car parts or erie for a head"
What is erie?

First step is, I am going to push it into my garage this weekend and take the T-belt cover off and see if its broke..

Everyone says i will have to replace the heads... If the T-belt broke and I replace the heads will that correct the problem?

Also this car has 3 near new Primewell PZ900 205/50/r16's on it.. the third tire is a miss match... I searched the internet for over an hour the other night trying to find where to buy one of these to have a matching set.. Anyone have any info to help?

Sorry just looking for clues as to how to proceed... i am really excited with the find and want to get it running...
