Re: 854 sway bar to 855 question
I am fitting springs to my wagon this weekend or next. So I'll let you know what kinda improvements they give over just the bar. I agree, this is a GREAT junkyard modification for any wagon looking for cheaper sway bars.

minor update on the handling.
Niiicccccceeee.
got the chance to try my corner once.
Previously;
At 60k it wasn't happy, felt messy, at 65k it was starting to loose traction on the front.
Now;
At 60k it couldn't care less, feels tight controlled, as if it could go a lot harder yet.
at 75k I chickened out, was starting to worry about tyres peeling of the rim.
No signs of the front wanting to slide at all.
Easier to to get the power down in corners without loosing traction too.

Awesome, who would have thought the stock bar would make such an improvement.GrumpyOldMan wrote:minor update on the handling.

I would really like to find out what each of those letters mean in terms of stiffness. Did you ever find out what those meant?findude wrote:I just found a reference to four different factory sway bars (aren't they anti-sway bars?) at http://www.swedishautoparts.com/850/Vol ... -rear.html.
Scroll all the way down to the bottom. If someone can tell me where to look for the mark (M,N, P, or V), I may be able to find it on my bar and solve the mystery for the rest of you.
I have a good supplier of used Volvo parts here in TO and I would certainly like to get myself a set... the car rolls like no tomorrow.

im no expert but I wouldnt cut or weld anything to the bar. they are ment to twist and (from what i know)are made from spring steel which once heated looses it spring. Just my two-cents worth. Plus for all the hassle IPD are plug and play. my next mod.
95 850 turbo....poly upper mount, 19t turbo, 3" downpipe, 2.25 custom exhaust w/magnaflow cat. bilstein struts/shocks,Ipd hd mounts and seats. vented cross drilled rotors F/B. and lastly an Alpine H/U,and hopefully more to come!!!

hmm upon closer observation the front bars have their sizes written, 20mm 21 mm and 21.5mm but the rears are still a mystery...
