854 sway bar to 855 question

Post by code-man850 »

Has anybody installed a rear sway bar from a sedan on their wagon? I've been told that there were three different sizes and wanna know how much they helped with body roll. And is installation easy?

I would like to know the answer myself....

However, if you search the forums, you will find that you need all the hardware to mount the rear sway bar. From what I recall it helps some.

I would not even waste the time in the swap unless you are getting the bar for free. I would just get a set of IPD bars.

Okay, well I guess it was good I said it would help some :)

IPD is apparently the way to go.

I read on this website before that Volvo put out some sway bars that were stiffer than IPD's, as a stock option. Maybe it was just the sportwagons that got it, I'm not sure. Does anybody know where I could find one of these?

Don't hold ya breath people.
pr-cks at the wreckers have f--ed me around again.
Long story shortened.

called them, asked for rear s/bar, yes we have, will put aside, get there that arv, sorry whole car gone.

month later, called for rear s/bar, yup we have, get there, not a rear, dig through the yard, theres one in this car, mine i say, need to pull, not today, fine i'll p/u fri, no prob, fri lunch i call and confirm, will be there 4.45, no prob, get there 4.35, locked up gone home.

So, they've f-cked me around three times over 3 months.
Gunna start looking at other wreckers next week..

c--ts.

Their loss, i need; rear s/bar, horn slip ring, dash cluster, wheels, various trim for my 850 and dads 940.
Future parts digs will also go else where..........

So if you live in brisbane, give the idiots at sumner park a miss, they lie constantly.

Seems to be the going story with wreckers. One tried to sell me a tranny with mud in it instead of tranny fluid.

Mud, it's not mud, it's special atf.
Bet he won't charge ya for it either........

And yet they cry when nobody buys from them...

Have many things to do.

Obtain 'cable' so that I can;
Reset service light.
Reset srs light (DOH).

Obtain and install horn slip ring from non srs car.
Obtain and install rear s/bar.

That'll do for the moment..........

Have re-dyed the bumpers and trim with 'show room new' (VERY recomended).
have fixed the recirc flap.
