I fixed the edges above the back window (sedan) using flexible fabric glue which you can get at a fabric store or a crafts shop for about three dollars. I then ate a popsicle and used the stick to dab the glue.
Our headliner damage was from kids sitting in the child booster seat and picking at the edges. Here's what the headliner looked like before:
Put an old towel below the work area to protect the seats or whatever from drops of glue.
Work slowly, putting just a bit on at a time, using the stick to get as far in as possible.
Using a different finger (one with no glue on it), bend your hand and use the back side of the finger between the last and next-to-last joints to slowly apply slight pressure to the fabric as you slide the finger moving toward the edge of the headliner. (Sorry, no photo.)
Here's what it looks like now:
For those of you who always wondered what those little slots at the back of the sedan headliner are for, you can see how the rear window shade clips attach there.
This worked really well and took maybe ten minutes. It took me longer to swing by the fabric store and find the glue.
I'd appreciate suggestions on how to clean the finger smudges.

Outstanding, well done Fin. Pinned in Repair DB. Sorry, no ideas on the fingerprints... that material is very weak. Maybe Goof Off?
