XC70 2004 Broken Front Spring

Just been told that I have a boken front spring. Being advised to replace both front springs and struts. Has anyone encountered this.

Springs hardly ever break. Are you sure they didn't mean "spring seats?" That would make more sense. If this is the case, replace with XC90 ones.
