alternator noise xc70

Need help on diagnosing my alternator.I have a grinding noise coming from the alternator.I checked it with a stethascope.I belive it has a free wheel pulley not to familiar with this style.Anyone now how to tell if the pulley is bad?.I replaced the accessory belt and the tensioner assy.The tensioner pulley turned out to be bad and was making noise as well.The alternator noise only seems to be there for a brief period of time when the engine is first put under load or when the AC cycles.Any suggestions would be much appreciated THANKS

I HAVE FIXED THE ISSUE IT WAS THE FREE WHEEL PULLEY.Check the pulley before you purchase a 400.00 alternator the part was only 80.00 dollars purchased from the volvo dealer.The pulley requires special tools to remove but your loacal Volvo or Vw dealer can remove the pulley when the alternator is out of the car.Thanks for the great site and anyone who looked at the post
