Most of us don't have the physical strengths to push the car down, so the easier way is:
- Find a "bad" road with lumps/bumps and some dips, drive slowly like 5-15 mph and observe the rebound of the car
after it hits a bump etc.
- Another way is to find a quiet road and apply brake to almost a "panic stop" (make sure there is no car behind you),
if the front end dips down excessively, then the strut is gone.
