Pat, did you see pix in this thread?

Yes. Is the last one the picture you were talking about?

Dash removal isn't that bad. It’s the mounts in the back that break. Checkout Robert’s (rspi) youtube video explaining what to do. It’s easier than it sounds and it’s a one man job. I must have done 3 or 4 by now, all on S70s. It’s a good feeling when you finally get the dash to quiet down.
Give it a shot and good luck! 👍🏻oh, and if you have a shiny shifter, put a sock on it so it doesn’t get scratched. Or just remove it.

That’s right. I can grab a better one if needed. Have a console trim piece out of car.

No I think that will be ok. Do you have a picture of the side of the trim? Kind of showing how it meets up to the dash itself. That might be helpful. Thanks. I really appreciate your help.

Thanks for the response. I am pretty sure the firewall mounts are fine. I can tighten them down ok. The noise does not change when I push on the dash but when I push on the climate control/stereo surround, where I showed in the picture.

Yeah then use butyl rope, cardboard, credit cards or whatever that works. I’m pretty sure the firewall mounts are not ok. You have a 98 S70 right?

+1 on what kallekula said. Rarely are they in good condition, at least one or two are usually broken

patcal wrote: 06 Nov 2022, 06:44 Greetings all,

I have a very squeaky dash in my 98 S70. It is not the dash mounts though. At least I do not think so. All 4 mounts are tight in the dash & the dash itself seems tight. I am getting the noise in the trim where the wood trim around the stereo & climate control meets the dash. I am probably not explaining it well. I am attaching a photo the points out where the noise is coming from. All along both sides where the arrows points to. I can push on the dash itself & the noise does not change but when I push the wood trim, I can get it to stop. I do nothing that this trim can be removed without pulling the dash. Any thoughts on this? One final thing. This is an older photo. When I recently changed my head unit, the noise got a little better for a while but it is still bad. Thanks.

.
For the face plate trim area try some cloth tape.
