2004 C70 cross brace removal

Someone pull the part number for those long bolts so we can post to this thread

I saw your previous note on keeping the bolts. I do this anyway being a cheap Scotsman (According to abscate) as up until now PnP junkyard has not been charging for bolts/nuts/screws. I am waiting the day they start doing that as they are now charging 10% environmental tax as well as core charges for everything which adds about 20% to the part price. Considering we are taking stuff out of the landfill and re-cycling it, they should be paying us not charging us!

Core charges at a junkyard are just a markup. A few places like Harry’s are priced well, it seems like a lot of places now want 50% of new for junkyard parts with some sort of “warranty” which never takes into account triple labor! I’m getting more jaundiced about junkyards and have had more luck with whole parts cars

If I had space for a junk car I would. Problem is I need -98 parts and 99- which would mean 2 cars I have no room for!

Not that I saw, but I certainly could be wrong. This pick-a-part was in Boise Idaho, dark blue C70, but I’ve seen them before all over.

We have a few C70's up here and the occasional C70 coupe. It is the first one I can recall ever seeing in the junkyard. Generally they get put away for the winters I think so are often fairly low mileage and well cared for. There are the exceptions like this one that looked like it had been unloved. Hood was torn, front bumper cover was split and it had been lightly shunted at the back enough to bend the center.

Anyway the braces are now tucked away waiting for cleaning and storage.

Abscate, I cannot find the brace on any of the Volvo websites. I read on one website it uses the same long bots as for the rear delta link. I don't know if this is gospel.

Ok, I lied! I found that the brace is listed under the engine mounts..............!

There are 2 part numbers listed for the #53 but I am not clear which one it is.

Do a thread count. The one with the photo @ $10.72 with one without the brace. That is of course if someone has one out at this time. The longer one should be a good 15 plus additional thread length.

I believe I may have both, but the pictures don't tell you which is which. I would have guesses at the 2nd one, but who knows. I will ask one of my friends in parts at the local dealer.

Wrong bolt. That is #36 which is the front mount bolts #53 is the rear ones. Part number would be 977509 on second reading
