So the alternator belt snap caused the timing to jump - any idea what tore the alternator belt? Tensioner?

Have no idea if it was the tensioner or clutch . I replaced them both (a friend of mine , many years experience said that entire set should be replaced frequently .
I wonder why it should be this way , to cause so much demagogue because of belt torn?

The engine head was rebuilt , sounds good.

Currently problem is that alternator light comes up it is not charging . It seems like when connecting the blue wire to alternator it stopped charging . Changed the voltage regulator to a new original one (as previous did not charge at all). I wonder what could be the cause for it.
Also , my mech said he cannot rev above 3000. Changed now the plugs . Hope to get good news.

Hello,

Bad news.. cyl1 has low compression . All 4 have about 150 , and cyl1 has about 20-40 . So engine is not working smooth and still not rev above 3000.

Maybe the engine head/valves haven’t been done correctly so valves loosing compression?

Can it be due to camshaft position sensor/?

2 weeks now in the garage …

Any assistance will be appreciated .

Has to either be bad piston rings or bad seal on the valves. Your mechanic should be able to determine which. If it have compression before I’d suspect the valves.

Thank you sir.

Engine was perfect before timing belt happened .
So you think as well there might be a problem with the cyl1 valves.

Hope it be solved soon. :-(

Another question please. So many ppl with serpentine belt torn getting into timing belt and destroying engines… why this is so common in Volvo ?

My mech sent me a picture of the engine head , saying it looks ok to him. Now he wants to remove piston 1 maybe the problem is there.
