New battery. The point here is good cranking is NOT a sufficient condition to ensure good running on am ETM car

I fixed this! And it has nothing to do with the ETM! Or the battery. It was this one pesky vacuum leak:
This is a photo of the new air hose, that was ripped real bad at the block. Found some random tubing, slapped it in, and lo and behold I can hold idle again! L
What is this little sensor? Something important, obviously. Either way, I’m super delighted that this is fixed, and now need to get my shift cables botched together in… a week. Then I can rallycross again!

That looks like it is above the radiator below the plastic ribbed cover. Can't tell where it is exactly. Depending on years (yes I know you have a 00 S70 NA) and turbo or NA there may be different stuff like the cooling fan relay, injector relay and one more I can't think of just now. Looks like it is at the RH end of the top of the radiator.
