Correct me if I am wrong but on the picture you've attached you can easily see that your Volvo wears Pirelli P6000 not P6! That is a huge difference. P6000 are High-Performance summer tires, whereas P6 are all-season. Personally I rate them both below average in its class. I bought my Volvo recently and have just realized that 850 GLT drives like a "donkey" trough the snow if only equipped with decent tires. I have a set of Nordfrost and they are great so if you are trying to drive in the snow with P6000 don't blame the car, it's the tires!

that would explain why your having problems... best way to drive a performance tire in the snow is..backwards!!!! ( i learned that when i had gatorbacks on my mustang .. lol)

By the way. 850 is my seventh Front Wheel Drive car so far, and by far the best on the snow. I had a rough winter test drive last Saturday, when things (weather) got pretty bad on East Coast...
