It’s the woven mats for sure! I had the NOS ones in there for a few days and no smell. I just put the daily driver/dog mats back in and of course the smell is back. Also, I’ve always had a mild battery acid smell from the back area even though the battery vent is intact and venting below the floor.

My PO gave us a few odd scents -
She probably spilled a few lattes in the cupholder heading to work.
Her tiny daughter spilled her milk in the car seat in the back. I scrubbed the carpets and the steel floor under.
A lot of hiking and backpacking trips, so often parked in a forest. I think a small animal got into an HVAC duct somewhere. It's dissipated now, but it was always there when you first hopped in. Ye Olde Mouse.
