V70 manual needs clutch - suggestions?

You cannot adjust the clutch, most cars have non adjustable clutches, has been that way for 20 odd years

An independent Volvo mechanic told me that my synchros were wearing out, so I'd need a new transmission. But he advised that I keep driving it until it gets much worse, then consider if it's worth it to fix.

This really sounds depressing, as if I should just give up on my car. Drive it in currently imperfect condition until 150k miles (that's 15k more miles, 1.5 years) and only fix it if nothing else has destroyed the car by then. But I've tried to take such good care of this car. It's not a junker, so why should I drive it around in poor condition?

It makes sense to let the clutch take more damage and hope I don't wreck the car in the next 1.5 years. But it's a Volvo; "for life". I want to drive this thing till the sheet metal goes through its half life. Now I'm kind of bummed.
