Seat Belt Tensioner

Well, it looks like I will have to replace the tensioner as it is acting up again. I will hopefully find a used one locally. Thanks to all for the above advice. It will probably be closer to the first of the year before I can replace it. I will post about the experience.

You might want to try some silicon lubricant rather than WD40. WD40 is more of a solvent than a lubricant and from my experience it seems to evaporate quite quickly. Whereas silicone spray is actually a lubricant and will 'hang around' for a quite awhile.

Ok, so it has started acting up again. You have to yank on the belt to get it to advance the belt to the point that you can buckle it. I am going to put one of those baby seat tensioner things on it to hold it out so it doesn't take as long to get buckled up. Then I am going to start looking for a used drivers side tensioner.

Does anyone know if the tensioners are the same in the 2000 model S80, S60, V70, etc? Or is the same tensioner used across a few years?

After reading this and having the same problem, I sprayed my reel lock mechanism with break cleaner. It is now like new! Thanks! Chatty
