Don't forget front spring seats. I tried the "OEM Quality" bargain price ones on eBay only to have them blow out in around three months. Stick with genuine Volvo parts for this repair. I hate doing things that don't stay done!

I tend to go a step above for these: XC90 spring seats. They last longer than even the 'regular' OEM ones and stave off clunking for many more miles.

I've been using a FRAM oil filter for my engine and everything seems ok.

Am I doing something wrong?

Fram filters don't have a check valve- something needed to keep oil up at the top of the engine when you start your car. Without it, you get a dry start which after awhile will wear your piston rings, causing blow-by and burning of oil. Change over to a Mann or Volvo filter on your next oil change.

What about ignition components like the distributor and rotor?
Any significant issues or known defects with alternates like Bosch or even the autozone type brands?

Don't know about the autozone components for these but Bosch is OEM on the components except the wires- for these Bougicord seems to be best and gives most people the best performance without any issues.

THe local AutoZone also carried Bosch compnents so I was wondering if their DuraLast brand may include repackaged Bosch items.
I found out yesterday that AZ no longer sells Bosch so that option is off the table.

I usually seek "top quality parts from a scrap yard" for my old 850. However certain parts arn't worth putting on if they are second hand, control arms bushings and such.
Ive baught a couple aftermarket control arms with the ball joints built in. They are not worth it in my opinion they have 12month warranties but i had ball joints go bad on both of them at 13months with not a whole lot of miles on them. OEM's last good. And ball joints are replacable on these control arms. I use second hand wheel bearings though. I try to keep the 850 running as cheaply as possible.
The V70 XC and my jeep see alot more money than my 850. GOtta love the durability of these rigs!
