Getting some squeak and noticed a drone when changing direction from left rear.

Any feedback on Centric ($40) brand part vs the OEM Volvo part $161?
June..what do you think I should do?

June thinks you should remove the screw driver from your back pocket before test driving further. =)

I’m wondering if that’s missing brake return spring might be the culprit....

Most of the search on “centric”gets into discussions of upgrading wheels but it seems like this brand is mostly low end brake pads, rotors, calipers with ok ratings...not bad nor good.
It’s a big savings on the rear wheel bearing, amd unlike the front, not a lot of Labour, so if I decide the wheel bearing is bad I’ll try the Centric one from FCP

That bottom-of-the-line Centric is $28 at RockAuto and even they are still marking it up, you get what you pay for (including the extra $10 for the warranty if you insist on FCP).
I know you are using more transient parts on this car as it ages but I'd go with $113 for Timken from RockAuto and be done with it.

Ill write up the diagnostic tree on this one, but with about 2 more years of operating life in this car and the rear wheel bearing being easy on a FWD car, the $60-100 delta is too much for this cheapskate.
And, MVS will get the data, of course.

By that logic do you want to just wait it out rather than replace a hub at the very first hint of wear? Hub bearings don't fail catastrophically. A groaning factory hub may well have more life than a $28 one.

Here is some real data I gathered from my 2005 V70 AWD. I replaced all four wheel bearings with some Ebay "Detroit" axle brand.
Within 6 months and 2000 miles one failed. My relative had bought the car from me and was forced to get it repaired at the dealer. Relative does not work on cars. Price of repair was over $700. Relative was not happy. Relative knew the car had three more potential failures and traded in car shortly afterwards.
So the Ebay "Detroit" axle brand had a failure rate of 25% within one year, possibly more.
Every other wheel bearing I have done has been OEM or "factory OEM" and I have had zero failures. I will never replace a wheel bearing with anything other than OEM or the other quality brands OEMs use.
I have no issues using Centric on brake parts, as the repair is fairly easy and dealer prices for replacement are not so steep.

I growled three front bearings through about 30k miles of life before replacing them but this noise is different - its near end of life. When the high frequency components start to resonate, the end is nigh
