Below is a photo I took prior to removing the TB - no solenoids or wires visible so probably no VVT. Thanks for the clarification.

I purchased the IPD cam locking tool when I did this job the first time, and fortunately I still had it in my auto repair box. Yes, locking the cams is VERY important.

Are you sure these instructions are for the 99 S70? I don't see any mention of the VVT.

The 1999s are tricky

Turbos have VVT, NA engines do not.

Without VVT , the timing belt job is similar to the 1998, but the tensioner is different.
