Painting the faded trim/bumpers?

Wow, that is fast! It looks like it might be a bit more difficult to get it even compared to painting, but if you don't like it, you can paint over it.

Would a hair dryer put out enough heat?
Would it affect painted areas or do you need to mask them off with tin foil or something?

Maybe a really powerful hair drier might work. When I did on mine I protected the painted areas with masking tape, and it was quite hard to remove it afterwards as the heat apparently made it stick harder. I hear that in the US one can find a tape made of real aluminium that is heat resistant (not duct tape). Might be the way to go.

Back to the hair drier, remember that the effect will be a function of heat and time. As a hair drier is not as powerful as a heat gun you may have to linger on a small area a longer time. On the other hand, the lower power will make part of the heat to migrate to deeper layers of the plastic, so instead of heating just the surface quickly, you may end up heating the entire depth of the plastic slowly and it may deform. Try the hair drier in a small section and see if it works.
