98 v70 with thump sound from front right side (suspension?)

The lore here is that cheap spring seats will break pretty quickly, and that OEM is the only way to go. I think Volvo actually superseded the original part with the heavier XC90 spring seat, FWIW

I can speak first hand how cheaping out on spring seats can cause you to have to do the job again. I just put new Sachs XC90 seats on my C70 after going cheap about 14 mos ago. I think I "saved" all of about $12 on the first pair (not my brightest move). I'm glad I don't have to pay myself for labor!
