This is frustrating. I removed the entire intake, box and all, and see no dipstick. Also no mention of it n the manual.

Ok I found it. Thanks all for convincing me to go look again! It's WAY down in there. Remove the intake hose that goes to the filter box, then look down to where the rubber intercooler hose mates with the metal hose. Thanks all!!!

Is it safe to pour some Lucas tranny fluid down there? That stuff made my chevy truck shift sooo much smoother. I'm hesitant to add anything to the Volvo though.

I am by no means a professional auto mechanic, but have done extensive research on the 2001 V70 2.4T transmission and by NO means would I ever recommend pouring anything but Volvo ATF, Mobil 3309 or Toyota Type IV into that unit. I have drained and filled my former vehicle with the Toyota stuff and it worked exceptionally well.

I have used the Lucas trans treatment on my 98 S70 w/ 194K miles a year ago and seems to have worked for me. It used to shift roughly and since putting in Lucas, it shifts better. It's no magic potion but I noticed a considerable improvement in the shifting. I believe it won't do any harm on the tranny. I also used the Luca stop leak engine treatment and there was an improvement.
