I know, that's why I asked what your current headlight setup was - if you'd wanted fog lamps, I'd have pointed you towards some good options. :) If you haven't yet taken care of the main headlamps, why bother with expensive and difficult to mount driving lamps? The high-beam pattern from my e-codes is more than adequate for me.

E-codes are so expensive in the US, I don't get it why there so expensive? I will replace the main headlamps with just some cheap ones I seen on Ebay. Still I can't drive with my high beams on as the light is without the same focus you find on driving lamps that have a narrow pencil beam that can illuminate the road as far away as 800 feet away. When I say pencil beam I mean a narrow beam angle of 5 to 10 degrees.

$120/pair for e-code lenses is expensive? And they'll be miles better than anything you get 'cheap on ebay.'

I know what driving lamps are - but if you are still using the DOT lenses, e-codes will seem like an entire new lighting system.

I should have mentioned that my reflectors are wasted! they have lost so much luster and shine so e-codes won't help them. I figure if I can't find a place that does electroplating cheaply I will just by some knock off reflectors that will be new at the very least.

I just found some LED lamps on Ebay and it made me wonder, maybe I can make my own driving lamps or head lamps using the super bright Cree LED bulbs?

I spent about $300 on new projector-style headlights for my car, then bought a pure-white (4300K) HID system for about $50. The difference is literally night and day. The projector beams have a good cutoff to light up the road and roads signs very well, all without blinding oncoming traffic.

Well worth it for me, as I do a lot of night driving on unlit freeways.

A few other users here have reported the same issue. The reflectors are no good anymore.

Your choices are:
1) Find good used reflectors at a salvage yard.
2) Buy new reflectors

I would suggest calling up TASCA to see what kind of a deal you can get. I don't know the P/N's for the 850's.

I agree. Do this and get some new e-code lenses. Replace your bulbs with quality ones if you are inclined (not over-wattage, and they shouldn't cost more than $10-15/each, max). I think you'll be surprised how good the stock lighting can be.
