1999 S80 T6

How to go faster, stop quicker, and turn harder. Chips, exhaust, larger turbos, bigger/slotted/drilled rotors, high performance brake pads, manual boost controllers, performance shocks/struts/springs, airbox mods and more! Also discussion on HID and Xenon lights, aftermarket foglights and other exterior lighting.

2004 and newer and NO T6s
04 was the last year for T6s I believe
Buy a 2.5T and flash the ECU to get a nice RELIABLE 240 hp
Of course if you add a downpipe and exhaust you can get to (again) RELIABLE 250-260 hp with tonsof low end torque.
Most of the early issues were fixed by 2004

They're fine (of course a bit slower) but really no different than an late S60AWD...with better seats and more rear leg room

One final question before I retire this post , unless something crops up. And thanks for all the above advice; I've calmed down now!

Which Volvo is the sportiest, performance wise?

Other than the brand new 2011-2112 S60?
2004-2007 S60 or V70R's...... by FAR

Of course you can build up many of these to be very decent, but (almost) stock for stock, the R's have it.
Unfortunately not the 1999-2004 S80T6 because of the transmissions

No 6 speeds available just the 6 speed automatic but the 2012 S60T6 is one hell of a car
Go test drive one

2004 is the best year from what I understand. 2004 had a face-lift, updated transmission, still has the standard Bosh alternator with built-in regulator. 2005 updated canbus but computer control voltage regulation. Sister had a 2005 S80 T6 as she loved my 2004. My 2004 had one failure from 12/2003 till 3/2016 and that was the wood piece fell off the shifter lever. Volvo replaced it under the factory warranty. 3/2016 109,XXX miles 2 control arms, 2 axles, timing belt. Everything before 3/2016 only scheduled maintenance and wear items. I have spent quite a bit since 3/2016 keeping my S80 in perfect running condition. I am fussy about maintaining my car as I love to press the accelerator to the floor regularly!!!!

All Volvo repair tickets starting 3/2016 are photographed and listed on MVS as Ice White 2004 S80 T6 in the maintenance section.

My 2004 S80 T6 has always had all the power needed. If you are wanting more power? Use Shell premium only, also 5w30 grade oil changing it at 3k mileage. Other grades of oil make the engine sluggish. Also these engines cook oil early. Keep in mind the oil gets hot in the first turbo then cooks in the second from what my mechanic says. My original engine uses no oil in 3K. Also is so quiet when it idles it can't be heard. Remember the turbo rules! Let the car idle at least one minute before shutting down, and if you drove it hard 5 minutes of idle is required to spool down as well as cool down the turbos instructions are in the owners manual. Enjoy your car! June
