For whatever reason I've been a little hesitant to run it through the vacuum. I may end up doing but thought I would go oil and gas and see what happened. I had gotten to the point where the non-stop ticking was driving me crazy and I was gonna pull the trigger on getting the other motor I have in. Kind of pumped up to see how long I can take this one now before I have to swap them out. Think I will add it to the crankcase prior to my next several oil changes. If you saw the buildup inside my engine you would understand...s70glt novice[Will] wrote:try it rspi, the 1/3 gas, intake and crank. itll help. dont let the idle die, let it sit for 15 minutes, and then DRIVE to blow all that crap out the exhaust. And to OP, yes it probably helped. but on your next oil change, i recommend doing all three. you get more power, better fuel economy, and it sounds better/ smoother depending on how bad it is. Do a couple 0-60 tests...(or 0-100, space allowing)
and jblackburn is probably right, but it will help...a little. either way, if youve never done it, i think you should.
*EDIT* if its N/A you can free wheel it, not great for the car, but if you have a turbo, the higher pressure compounds the effect of blasting away carbon build up
Seafoam cured my ticking lifter?

I think in the intake has the best effect. In the oil probably helps it clean out the bottom & top ends of the valves.
Slurp it in a little bit at a time through a vacuum hose (I use the one to the SAS control valve on my 98). The engine will stumble a little bit, and back off, let it recover for 3 seconds or so, and have at it again. Repeat til you suck in 1/3 of a can, let it idle for ~5-10 seconds, and shut the motor off for 15 minutes.
I start it, let it recover idle on its own (it will definitely stumble for a little bit), and then rev it a bit before driving.
