Seafoam cured my ticking lifter?

Post by ckrussell »

After reading some of the seafoam posts decided to give it a try in the crankcase and tank. I should preface this by saying my car had a terrible tick at all speeds that only went away when the radio got loud enough. I added seafoam to the crankcase today and after 30 miles the tick is gone. And it wasn't a light tick by any means. Maybe too good to be true but we'll see if it lasts. I will report back after a few more miles and an oil change....

Did you add any seafoam to the fuel tank? Did the car smoke real bad like most people say?

I have done the seafoam treatment in all locations: Gas tank, lube oil and the most effective for me was directly into the intake manifold while idling a little fast. You DON'T want to do this in your garage or in your neighborhood! The fire dept will be called! Go out where there aren't people and then do it. The instructions are in here under various seafoam treatment write uos! Sure cleaned out my combustion system, ring grooves and probably exhaust valves seats! THERE WILL BE SMOKE!!! LOTS!

Do you think Seafoam will clean out the junk in my intake? I really don't want to loosen up some chunks of this stuff and get junk stuck in my valves.

Another success story for Seafoam!

Your intake? Not really, as it doesn't spend enough time there, but it does a good job on the valves and pistons once it's sucked into the engine.

For the intake I'd take some acetone on a rag or cleaner of your choice to it if you've got it removed like that.

try it rspi, the 1/3 gas, intake and crank. itll help. dont let the idle die, let it sit for 15 minutes, and then DRIVE to blow all that crap out the exhaust. And to OP, yes it probably helped. but on your next oil change, i recommend doing all three. you get more power, better fuel economy, and it sounds better/ smoother depending on how bad it is. Do a couple 0-60 tests... ;) (or 0-100, space allowing)

and jblackburn is probably right, but it will help...a little. either way, if youve never done it, i think you should.

*EDIT* if its N/A you can free wheel it, not great for the car, but if you have a turbo, the higher pressure compounds the effect of blasting away carbon build up

JBlack, that is nothing compared to a pick up truck I seen the other day. I believe the mechanic behind my apartments was doing a Seafoam treatment to a turck and you couldn't hardly see the truck once it went by. If I hadn't heard the thing running smoothly I would have thougth it was on fire. Should be against the law!!!

Driving a Prius should be against the law. Especially in the left hand lane.
