Well into hour #3 I have bought a couple more tools to try, the thing won't budge a little. I try the screwdriver tip exactly and I only succeed in jabbing it into my palm and was bleeding profusely. So I wrap it up tightly so I can use the bandage to help grip the canister when the metal starts cutting even deeper into my freaking middle finger to the point it is just hanging by a thread! I look at the clock & the walk in clinic is closed already so no need to hurry to the ER they will be there all night. So I wrap up my finger tight and the bloody bandage on my hand and give it another tug or 2 cause I am running out if daylight soon and that's the last thing I remember when they wake me up in the ER from blood loss . SHEESH! I must have passed out and scared my daughter to death! But she said no worries Mom the paramedic saw what you had been trying to do and he put a cool suction thing on it and broke it loose while the other guy was taking care of you in the ambulance!! Wow!!
Then I woke up & realized I dreamed all that nonsense and went back at that filter with the ratchet wrench and it came off right away! HA! Happy Sunday!

Good thing you got it loose. Another tip is using rubber gloves when filters seem to be stuck, it gives you extremely good non-slip grip.

Also, during install, tighten it another 1/2 turn after it touches the housing mating surface.
This makes removal much easier.

If you keep having problems removing your filter, then get a visgrip filter wrench. I am sure those other filter wrenches work well, but for me this wrench is the tops. I have worked with big rigs to motor bikes and this wrench is best. Just get the size that works best for your filter size. Plus if some oil jock ever over tightens your filter again this wrench will get it loose. been their many times working on others car.

Please help!!!
I have tried everything except that aviation tool.
My oil filter is a twisted mess under my Volvo. I have working on it ALL DAY!!
I am frustrated to say the least.
I have to pick up my kids from school in about an HOUR!
I tried the three tipped oil filter wrench, band wrench, and screwdriver through the filter.
All they have done is destroyed the filter.
PLEASE HELP. I will keep working at it, and check back in a bit.
Otherwise I will need to borrow a car or something. The car is in my garage. If I do not get this done my wife is going to chop them off!!

Borrow a car, no need to kill yourself doing this.
BTW, next time, work on the oil change on a weekend, this way you are not under stressful situation.

Use your screwdriver or a chisel on the top plate (hard steel plate that is the top of the filter.
Come from below and contact the plate at about a 45 degree angle. Use a hammer to tap the chisel or screwdriver into the filter.
Make double sure you are going counter clockwise looking up from the bottom.

You will be driving the chisel into the plate and turning it off by hitting with the hammer. Once you get it turned 90 degrees it will spin off.
