I change my oil 2x a year which equates to about 7k miles. I run german castrol 0w30 and a mann filter.

I paid for a blackstone oil analysis on my land cruiser and they said to run it up-to 10k miles on mobil 1 10w40 high mileage.

Do most of your 850s have the lifter tick after siting for about a day? One of my R's has 111k miles(97k when bought) and it likes to do it almost everyday but our other R has 230k miles and it never ticks. Anything to be concerned about?

Mine ticks for about 2 seconds if I let it sit for more than 36 hours. As long as it stops ticking in less than a minute, I wouldn't worry about it.

5k, mobil1 synthetic on both the 98 v70 and s80. Neither consume oil

The V70 went 200k before I did the PCV overhaul, and it didn't even need to be done then I just did it... I was amazed how clean it all was

I just hope my V70 doesn't read this forum. :D .
The way I see it, I'm a bad owner.
There is not enough time or MONEY to do all the things I should and I know it will
come back and bite me.
Between the oil changes ,power steering and transmission, I am not keeping up with maintenance.
The oil changes are more like filter changes for me. I've run 4 or 5 quarts of oil through the engine before I get around to changing it.
Besides the blue box, what would be a good oil filter from an auto store?
I have read but forgot to write them down.
Thanks for any help.

I have been using Shell synthetic oil in my V70. 5w30 changed evey 7 to 8K miles and MANN filters. The shell oil is $28.00 vs $36~38.00 for mobil-1 per 5 qt jug. I just buy an extra QT for the change. And FWIW, a drain and fill on the tranny each oil change too, about 3.5 qts each time. I scored a megaload of Peak ATF oil at a Big Lots store, $2.00/qt. I bought about 4 cases worth. This of course means I'll have to keep driving old Volvos :-)
