How often do you replace your wiper blades?

Post by Durenol »

Not sure if I'm chewing through them or not. Is their lifespan noticeably increased or decreased if not used much?

As needed, about once a year in the spring after having them tear through frost and ice during the winter.

Used to buy cheap $4-5 blades then found Bosch Aerotwins for just a bit more for a pair. They seem to last about the same but look neater.

When I lived in the city...all the time.!

Since moving to northern maine and always keeping it garaged I haven't even used my wipers all winter. I expect these Bosch will last a few yrs at this rate.

Best tip in the driveway exposed was don't leave them touching the glass overnite in winter.

About every two years as directed by SWMBO,

Put the best one in trunk as spare, and I cut the other if good to make cheap rear wiper inserts and test.

Where in the flying heck are you finding blades for that price? Everything I'm seeing is like $15-20 per-wiper.

This car is hardly driven and basically lives in a garage, which is why I'm wondering about lifespan.

A Swedish car parts chain that sells a lot of low price stuff of which quite a lot is decent stuff but some is crap.

Ive only ever had one wiper actually break, the rubber strip broke loose from the fitting so that the metal fitting scraped the windscreen. It happened just before I passed a store and could replace it luckily. The rest just don't wipe as well after a while and leave streaks. If the car isn't used much it'll take a long time before that happens.

Sounds like biltema.

+1 to Bosch Aerotwins. They work very well.

Have owned my current 850 for two years now and have replaced the wiper blades twice: when I bought it and two months ago.
