I believe that is a double sided belt that utilizes grip on both sides to drive pulleys.
It is double sided. The '99 and '00 cars all use the double sided version. The replacement belt goes from $15.00 to $45.00 (aftermarket) in the process.

Thanks for the information. I went to a local auto parts store and they have a kit you can have for up to 30 days to use. It had a thin bar with a stationary 3/8 drive to fit the 14mm socket on. I put that on the bolt on the center of the pulley and it was so easy to move.

Yes it is a two sided belt. I got the alternator out and the new one back in. I just have to put the power steering pump back, put new serpentine belt on, replace thermostat, fill radiator, and secure radiator and power steering overflow tanks, and it should be done.

Thanks for all your help. This was a great experience!

Old post but important to mention a great tool for those with serpentine belt tensioner with Torx 60 hole.

- The typical Torx 60 socket sold locally is 1/2" type. If you want the 3/8" type, you can buy it on line.
- Torx 60 socket + breaker bar will NOT fit due to tight space.

- The serpentine belt tool (Harbor Freight, ebay or other online vendors,) is a life-saver. Trust me, I use this on my 2005 XC90 and it works great. For $16, it is a bargain.
- Since this tool comes with BOTH 3/8" square (the LONG bar) and 1/2" square (the SHORT bar), you have 2 options:

1. Buy the Torx 60 socket, but buy the 3/8" type and simply use it with the LONG bar.
The problem is: local autoparts store only sells the 1/2" type when it comes to Torx 60.
So, for 3/8" type, buy online.

2. Use the 1/2" Torx 60 socket.
Note that the SHORT bar has a 1/2" square end and a hole that accepts 3/8" square.
All you need to do: install the SHORT bar onto the LONG bar and that is it!

I have used this serpentine belt tool on Honda, Toyota, Volvo, BMW, All I can tell you is this tool is worth every penny.
