Crap can fall into the blower cage too, especially if you don't have a cabin filter installed. We had a thread where some idiot lost his Iridium phone into the hole and wondered why his blower kept ringing recently.

The blowers on the ECC cars aren't regulated with resistors like your fathers Buick..the signal they get is complicated by all the inputs noted above. I think most of these issues are wonky fans. It's a pretty easy replacement on these cars until the P2....
