i think if you had posted a picture of that strut along with the question you might have received some very different opinions...

I am trying to keep up Steve, I have problems with ambient pressure.

I did install my new boost gauge recently on the '96 Turbo Wagon, and that one goes to 11. Good for stock. (628 ECU) installed later.

I will start a new thread in the proper place for that discussion.

Did the rear suspension first, and today stripped off the struts and left FWB.

Total 2 hours work.

You can't tell any difference between the growler and the new FAG bearing. Same resistance to rotation, no axial play. Lot of grunge though.

I took a lot of pix and will make new thread.

At 168k miles, you've guessed correctly, the right side bearing is starting to growl. So it was 20 k miles behind the other.

I suspect this is a Northeast wet slush salt phenomenon.

I might let this one go to Spring as I'm putting only 10k per year on this car.

I don't thing I've replaced a wheel bearing yet on my '98 V70 (oops, I just cursed myself) and the odo is about to turn over 292K miles. Axles, yes, wheel bearings, no.
