You shouldn't have to remove it at all. That line doesn't actually attach to anything inside of the dash - the climate unit just butts up to it. From the inside of the car it is just a hole in the firewall. That lines sole function is to provide air to the ECU box and then the air is then circulated from the box through the plastic line with the bellows that plugs into the fan shroud.

I agree you must remove the air hose. I can't remember how. IIRC you pull.

I was told by a vendor that the accumulators they are shipping now have the dryer function activated when oil hits it. So an open dryer won't be an issue as it hasn't absorbed any moisture at that point.

That "fat" tube is an air hose and it is screwed in with two self tapping torx screws. I found it easier to remove it when I was assembling the ac lines, so I will guess that you may prefer to remove it the first time. There is a good write up by a "wood worker" on the internet that gives exceptionally explicit instructions. I printed the entire thing and taped it to my garage wall.

Two Torx screws release the bracket which makes it bit easier to remove than de clipping it from the firewall. It's a tight fit in there and its hard to get a good purchase

If the ECU box is off, it easy.
