Well no clear answer precopster sorry. Apparently the check light has stayed off for the last week since being reset. Checked it today and no code showing. I swapped the part with the used one I salvaged, and so far it is also not throwing a code. Cleaned the contacts just in case of the clip, and the A/C pressure switch.

However, (I have just posted another question on leaky oil lines) I noticed there is a leak from the oil cooler lines and the acceleration sensor is right in the firing line. Perhaps leaking oil is to blame. Again, I'll update once I get a chance to check it out.

Neil.

The 99 and later with ME7... have the part on the circuit board inside under the cover not visible unless you pry tabs and take cover off.

The sensor does very little but altering base fuel trim for altitude is a better solution than to let long term fuel trim (LTFT) take the job. If you alt compensate then the parameter range for fault detection for LTFT can be a smaller window and detect issues sooner.

Accel sensor is used to rule out bumpy roads as the source of crankshaft speed irregularity for misfire detection. Early method was not sophisticated enough to know the difference between flywheel speed irregularity due to misfire or wheels bouncing off pavement and then landing again.

Education is much appreciated jimmy57! You never seem to know everything about Volvos and their strange quirks!

Many thanks,

Neil.
