Hi Lee,

Since I've been at work Mandy or her support folks have been on the laptop via Teamviewer. Noticed the disc had been popped open.

She has left me an e-mail which just said:

pls install a virtual disk which can open IOS file

then pls restart your computer

then it is ok

No idea what she means by this as I am now out of my depth.

From what you say there should be a 'patch file' on the disc. I have posted a picture of the disc content:
13 uncompressed files on disc.
13 uncompressed files on disc.
There is no patch file here.

I then decompressed the disc files and got a file named VIDA which has these 3 files:
3 files on disc after decompression
3 files on disc after decompression
Opening the Compinfo file gives this info and more:
Compinfo file
Compinfo file
If I go into the file named MAIN I get these files:
MAIN file content
MAIN file content
Opening the SETUP instruction file you get this content:
MAIN Setup readme file
MAIN Setup readme file
Appreciate it is asking a lot, but if you can make any sense of this and guide this old duffer I truly appreciate it.

Neil.

There are many virtual disc programs.
Power ISO Virtual Drive Manager is an example. I believe it is freeware and doesn't harm the computer in any way.

For some reason it's on my XP office PC that has Vida on VM Ware. Can't say it's on my laptop that has Vida on it however it can't hurt to fit it.

PM me with an email address and I will send you the files that came with my DVD. The file is small, under 200kb (under 100kb ziped).

Still can't get this to work, even after 2 attempts via Teamviewer with Mandy Deng. Naturally, we are now up against Chinese New Year so she will be away for 2 weeks. She is still trying to find a solution.

I struggle to see why it is so difficult. I loaded 2005 and 2012A (from here) with no issues. At least after the last attempt it looks like a 'patch' file is now present, but still won't load past LOGIN page. Patch file doesn't seem to work though.

Truly disappointing, but at least I can use the older XP version if needed until this is resolved.

Lee, never did receive the patch file for some reason. But thanks anyway!

Great news! After a lot of e-mails to Mandy, Teamviewer sessions, and still no luck, I was very fortunate that one of our regular forum members (you know who you are) was amazing, and spent nearly 3 hours on Teamviewer and Skype with me and my computer. Eventually he suggested IE8 was possibly a problem as it would allow any downloads. Downloaded Firefox and Chrome and both allowed log-in but had issues on the selection page with info missing.

Next day I downloaded IE9 as recommended, and Voila! It now works, with normal log-in and connects with DICE, starts up much quicker, talks to the car!

Can't say enough thanks for the awesome 'over-and above' help. I have not used his name as I don't want him to be in-undated with calls for help!

Now onto VOL-fcr. Oh, fun!

That's great news to hear Neil. It looks like IE8 may be getting dated for use with newer Vida versions.

scot850 wrote:Need help here. Received my DICE unit a couple of days ago from the recommended supplier and I'm working with Mandy Deng to figure this out.

2014A is supposed to run on XP or Win7 Pro. I had some issues getting 2012A running in VWware in Windows 7 Pro, but with your able help on the forum I got there in the end.

As supplied, the disc for 2014A has 13 files in 'Winrar' compressed format.

I have tried to 'un-pack' the files and store on the 'C' drive into a new file both directly from the disc and by copying the files over first and then un-packing.

Once un-packed, the files become one and I have then dug down and found the 'Setup.exe' file and run that. However, every time I run that, it comes up with a screen as below:
VIDA failure screenshot 001.JPG
Doesn't matter what I have done (tried on another Win 7 Pro PC also) I get the same problem at the same point.

IT still asks to re-start, but when you do nothing has changed.

Suggestions please?

Do I need to switch off security software as I know it needs access, but normally you would get a request to allow?

I can run the DiCE unit on the 2012A software, but it is slow, I'm hoping that by running directly on Win 7 it may be quicker as it should have access directly to computer resources, and boot up quicker.

Thanks,

Neil.
old VIDA 2012, 2013A should be installed on Win XP or Virtual machine, but 2014A or new 2014D MUST/HAVE TO be installed on Win 7, do do not need to installed it on Virtual machine running XP mode.
