Yes,it reset service light.Precopster was talking about srs light which cannot be reset with vol-fcr....It Can and it will reset everything except engine codes unless it's Motronic 4.4.Since your car is '98 it should be motronic 4.4.
All you need is a cracked version which comes along with cable and it's around 25$.You just need to connect it with your laptop or desktop computer.

Demo version will not reset service light.

Misha you just contradicted yourself.

I still stand by my assertion that Demo Vol-FCR won't reset service light. Lots of threads about that here on Matthews.

On my own 98 V70R it will NOT reset the service light so I asked here on the forum.

Hi,

I see the price of the full version is in Euros, so that would be maybe about $150 dollars USD. That's a little steeper than i wanted too, especially since i dont have a laptop (yet). Maybe that is a good excuse to eventually get a laptop :-)

Can i ask what the "R" stands for after the v70, as in "v70R" ?
Is that the sun roof model?
If that "R" is just some trim, then we have the same basic model, as i have the v70 1998 also (no "R"). I was very surprised to hear so many people have these or similar after i purchased the car, i would have never guessed that.
I’ve been driving a Volvo long before anyone ever paid me to drive one.
That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.
1998 v70, non turbo, FWD, base model, on the road from April 2nd, 2015 to July 26, 2023.

Demo will not,I all ready said that.
I bought cracked version from eBay few years ago and it works perfectly.Demo version which I downloaded from Ilexa is D E M O and will not reset service light.
I don't understand why you're saying that I'm contradictor...except if you think that cracked=Demo.

R is the fastest of these cars with all needed spoilers and had the highest price.

C'mon... The R goes a little farther than that! ;)

AWD, lower, tighter suspension, 2.3L HPT, R front bumper/spoiler,
mono coloring, Special interior pack: Seats, Trim, Upholstery, etc.
Surprisingly, though, the tailgate spoiler was optional... Go Figure.

precopster wrote:Well I guess you could buy the Vol-FCR and hook it up to your computer and then measure the generated signal when sending the "clear service" light command. You may need to power certain pins of the OBDII plug with 12V.

By the way the cracked or demo version of the software won't reset the SRS light. The full version is required.
mine sure does
