Yeah, it's kinda brownish. This is the second tube of Sil-Glyde I've purchased, and the previous one was also brown.

Hi,

Well thank you, at least now i know the tube isnt defective or something.

I left the 'test' in place for the past day or so, and both products leach into the paper below it, so there was no good and bad here, at least with this simple test.
I'll have to leave them sit for several months now as that's the only way to get any real idea what is going to happen.
But one thing is clear already, and that is that the white lithium has petroleum of some sort in it and i dont think the silicone based grease has any. We could double check this i guess.

Another interesting grease i found has what they are saying is a ceramic base. It is about 150 percent of the cost of the silicione based product. It's hard to tell how much 'better' it is if it is even better or not, but it does look interesting.
I think the cheapest tube is about $12 USD, but i already have enough now so i doubt i'll get any of this stuff. Maybe in the future when i feel like experimenting with it :-)
I’ve been driving a Volvo long before anyone ever paid me to drive one.
That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.

Hi,

Oh ok, ha ha. I'll remember to bring some with me then if we ever meet up :-)
If you spread some on your feet you dont need roller skates :-)

To be honest, I wouldn't worry much about the grease. If oil is what's specified, any grease you're using isn't going anywhere fast enough to let the latch dry up any time soon.
