Wood ramps are way better, info below...

Great write up and these ramps (steel) do look a right pain in the arse! and thats even before attempting to use them, will have a look at getting wood ramps.

In the end I purchased these (5 ton rated (total).):

And this jack

And also have axle stands for added protection from being squashed while under car and steel wheel chocks.

So today I done the oil/filter change with the new ramps/jack and this was the setup, jacked up at the middle of the front subframe point and lowered slowly onto the ramps (while keeping the jack in place), nice safe way for anyone to do an oil change on these cars.

My only comment regarding your ramp purchase is related to the length of the level landing points.
They do not look particularly long so chocking the rear wheels is a must I think.
What height above paving is the uppermost landing point for the wheels?

Driving onto Ramps is easier than jacking. If you drive over them it's embarrassing but no damage, and you will learn by doing.

I did have steel wheel chocks on the rear but the chances of the handbrake snapping, wheel chocks failing and ramps cracking are the same as me winning the lottery twice so if I died while under my current setup then I would have deserved it!......Yet these ramps are 5 ton rated and designed for caravans to level out so while I agree they look quite short, in reality they are perfect.

Better that way as saves on fuel and tyre wear from driving up the ramps :D
