2008 V70III Yet another whining noise problem (with videos)
Re: 2008 V70III Yet another whining noise problem (with videos)
I've got the same thing - a whine when the compressor is on in my 2008 XC70. At first I thought if was my transmission and my heart sank, but then I discovered it only whined when the AC was engaged. I was hoping it would not involve an entire compressor replacement, and that I could get away with just an AC clutch and bearing.. Wishful thinking?

Years ago my 2004 S80 did the same thing and oil was added to the system and Freon replaced which pretty much quieted the noise. That was several years and about 50K. Also the condenser was cleaned with a.c. coil cleaner which was washed off with a pressure washer. The condenser coils were clogged up with dirt and bug causing high Freon pressure. June
