I didn't try this yet. Losing that source for kits will hurt. An initial Google search reveals tons of potential sources for kits and individual seals. I will dig in to this and try to find a solution. I may pull the right seal from my spare rack, take measurements, and try to shop for a replacement.

The problem with trying to rebuild SMI racks is that not only will finding a rebuild kit be difficult, but there’s a couple other issues. First, there’s no instructions for it anywhere, and while you might be able to figure it out, torque specs are really important for proper preload on assembly, and as far as I can tell nobody has access to those specs.
1998 V70 AWD - Emerald Green/Tan - M56/Delta link swap, VAST tuned, lots of fun
1998 V70 NA - Nautic Blue/Charcoal - Factory M56/slicktop track car
2006 XC70 Ocean Race - workhorse
2002 S40 1.9T - daily

2004 XC70 - Mystic Silver/Black - former workhorse, parted
2005 V50 T5 M66 FWD - Black Stone/Black leather - former garage queen, sold

My rebuild plan is to remove the right outer and inner tie rods, remove the right end cap by removing the wire, then replace the right seal. Like a cam shaft seal, I may have to puncture the seal with a screw to remove it. I don't plan to remove the pinion or anything else. I will try to do all of this with the rack on the car. I have a spare rack so will practice on that first.

After a moderate search, I found that seal kits and individual seals are available. I only need the right seal but might have to buy a whole kit if I can't find just the seal. Information below may help determine if these parts will work for you.

Seal kits for 2000 V70 NA FWD SMI rack are available from Gates, Edlemann, Precision, Sunsong, etc. They're available at PartsGeek, O'Reilly, RockAuto, etc.
Gates 348604 for SMI - $50 in stock RA, $63 in stock PG, $120 no stock OR - 12 seals. Lists all the seal names.
Edlemann makes them for other brand racks, might have SMI as well.
Sunsong 8401329 for SMI - $33 no stock PG
Precision 28401329 - $50 in stock OR - 11 seals - Which brand rack?

Kits and individual seals may be available from Transtec. They list everything imaginable on their site. Their catalogs have info compiled from manufacturers. The 2018 catalog on their site has less than their site product list and with different part numbers. This 2017 catalog hosted elsewhere has everything with part numbers matching the site and even measurements of rack components (in an unorganized manner). It says it's info compiled from manufacturers.

Transtec suggests buying from WIT or Transtar local shops. Consider calling one and asking about the specific kit or seal part numbers. The Transtar online site (Transend) lists only transmission parts.

Transtec product pages link to Power Steering Seals for sales. They seem less reputable than Transtec. They don't have all of the seal kits that Transtec does, including no SMI kits for P80 (but they have other Volvo kits).

Other sources for kits and individual seals, though they don't seem to have the SMI kit:
ATG in Lithuania
A site in Europe
R&D Car Parts in the Netherlands
