1997 850 oil light at startup

OP is using Mann oil filters, not Mobil1. That was someone else who posted with the same advice (get a filter with a check valve). The filter is not the problem here, most likely issue is the oil tube pickup o-rings as suggested by cn90.

In that case, run 1l of atf in your crankcase before your next oil change. It cured the constant ticking from my engine. It is worth a try before doing a messy job

So to clarify, run 1 litre of what in the crankcase? Just pour it in? and how long before the oil change do you recommend? Thanks!

Ah, that was my guess. I'm not familiar with auto tranny fluid, having only owned stick shift cars.

No it will not hurt anything, it is a well documented trick; worth trying.

Add 1L of atf to your regular oil and go for highway drive at minimum. I've read people leave it in the engine for 100-200km for extra cleaning. Repeat at next oil change if still causing issues.
