99 S70T5 ETM compatability

What is more important, the part number or the engine it came from. If I have two choices the exact part# from an NA or LPT, or a different part# from a T5 HPT?

Looking at Vida, the part # for your car has been updated to # 36050563 (from 36001822) and if I had a way of checking back further it would be back to the number you originally mentioned.

When I do a part # search on Vida it lists this new number to almost all V/S/C 70's from 99 (turbo and non-turbo), XC70's from 01-07 (but I have doubts about that maybe up to 02), also S60, and S80 -06 both 5 and 6 cylinder.

I am a novice on this item, but the best and most ideal would be a same year, same model car with the same transmission. SO, if you can find a car with the same engine (is it a B5234T3?) and trans (standard or auto (also there are 4 and 5 speed auto) whichever you car has) then you should be good. That would mean C70, S70 and V70 T5's with 4 or 5 speed auto. I think that would be the only way to do this without need for re-programming with a good chance of success.

You can't swap in a pair of ECM and ETM as the immoboliser (key) information is on the ECM.

You really only need the Dice and drivers installed to a Windows workstation and of course an internet connection to transfer software. Vida isn't necessary as Henry can read the ETMs while he's connected.

Neil to look at ETM software versions on Vida just go to Diagnostics then access the Network tab then highlight the module you want to read with a mouse selection.

It will show serial number, hardware part number, diagnostic version and the 2 x software part numbers that determine compatability.

Once you plug in another ETM choose UPDATE (it will read all of rhw modules once again) and again select the module with your mouse.
