I have no idea what newer models use- I just know that all Volvo's we've owned (from '94 to '07 models) have used this... There are opinions that Zerex is the preferred coolant as it lacks phosphates, but as long as you use distilled water when mixing your coolant, I say you're fine. Btw, I recently saw an engine that was torn apart (not a Volvo) whose owner used tap water in his coolant. At first I didn't know what the white deposits were in this guy's spark plug chambers and so when I asked the mechanic he told me that the engine had a bad head gasket and so coolant leaked into the engine...might not have been the cause of the damage, but the huge white deposits all along the aluminum cylinders were from the water...those deposits would not have been there if he had used distilled water...the deposits looked all budged up and ugly too...the mechanic was going to have to deal with these by finely sanding them off without impacting the aluminum mating surfaces.Oka wrote:OK, I'll keep to the green type.MadeInJapan wrote:Nope- you need to use the fluorescent green type- it is basically Ethelyn glycol.
Our cars don't like the yell or orange coolant...trust me on this one!
And ther All Makes/All Models are they for the newer autos?
