Hello there,
I need 6 posts and 6 clips for the front grill in order to reinstall it.
Would it be better to just use some small bolts and nuts? I could perhaps drill holes or just slip the head in maybe.
I ask because getting the posts and clips does not seem to be easy and they are just plastic anyway.
Thanks.

I’ve been driving a Volvo long before anyone ever paid me to drive one.
That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.

You need to be best friends with Evan and get him to harvest some from Harry's for you next visit.
Ask him if he can get a dipstick and a battery hold down clip fir me, too, while he is there
I think I have these on my junkyard clip , mr Al. I'll try take a look in morning. I'm driving by your way tomorrow but schedule is pretty full. Friday might work

Hi Steve,
Oh really you have 6 of these?
Unfortunately the ones that were on there are all broke and only one of the steel slide things that lock it into place remains.
It doesnt look too hard to replace though, i found a Robert vid that explains it pretty well.
I was surprised to find that it is made of plastic though (the grill itself that is).
Thanks and i'll throw you some bucks.
I was looking into using small bolts and nuts too. Not sure if that would work well or not yet.

Im counting on the fact that I put the hardware back on the grill - that might not be a good bet.
I will bring my Bottle of Volvo hardware though!
I almost had a junker S70 for parts but after banging the engine with a hammer its working again.

Hello again,
Oh ok, well you might want to check then to see if you have them in there
It has to be the right hardware or it wont work. These things are quite unique i think.
Oh too bad it didnt remain a junk (just kidding, good to see it working then).
Hey do you have my phone number? You'll have to call when you get close so i can run downstairs.
Thanks

Hello again,
Hey i found this diagram. The parts i need are numbered 4, 5, and 2, although i can get away with just 4 and 2.
You can check to see if you have these or not i guess. Thanks.
Oh yeah, i would need six of each of those parts for a total of 18 parts (or just 12 if missing number 5).

Hello again,
Ok this is now fixed but i though i would share the technique for doing this.
First, i was going to use tie wraps and that would work, but then i realized that the radiator is near and heat breaks down tie wraps faster. I already bought the hardware anyway, which was a set of nuts and bolts size 6-32 and also fender washers so i figured i might as well use them.
Hardware:
(4) 1.5 inch long bolts size 6-32
(8) 6-32 nuts
(4) fender washers 3/4 inch diameter outside, tapped 6-32 inside
The fender washers i got had a hole too small for a 6-32 bolt so i tapped them to 6-32. I wanted the fender washer to stay as near to perpendicular to the bolt as possible, but i could have drilled the hole out and used an extra nut to hold the fender washer tight up against the head of the bolt. Yes, the fender washer went up against the head of the bolt.
Finding where the original hardware was, i drilled out a hole all the way through the grill so the bolt would go all the way through. I did this in four places nearest the edges of the grill.
Placing the bolt head and fender washer on the inside, there was plenty of washer to catch on the inside metal. Pushing the bolt through the drilled hole, then screwing two nuts on the outside, then tightening the two nuts with two ignition style wenches, the nuts are then tight and the grill is then tight in the grill opening.
The fit is tight and so it does not wobble or anything.
Next i will use some thread lock on the nuts.
Total time for drilling was about 15 minutes but i wanted to be careful to get the holes perpendicular to the grill front.
Total time to install was about 20 minutes.
Comments welcome.

Hello again,
Here are some pics showing the fix.
Grill-1 shows the inside of the grill with fender washers.
Grill-2 shows the fix after installation, showing four bolts sticking out with nuts on them.
Grill-3 shows same as Grill-2 except close up of the bolt ends.
The fix is very strong but yes it does detract slightly from the original grill "look" because of the bolts and nuts, but eventually i will use a cap nut on the end after cutting the bolts a little shorter. That will make it more aesthetic.
Note:
I photoshopped a small rust spot off of the hood in Grill-2
I wish it was that easy in real life
