Spiderbubbu aka Ms Hawkeye... I'm a ~120 miles north of you in Rochester, MN. I don't know of any Volvo indies in your area, but there are some in my area . Google provide this European shop in Waterloo- http://www.lichty.com/products.html - again don't know anything about them - but agree with abscate's comments your current mechanic is not providing much service.

Menards home improvement center or any auto parts store will have the Dexron 3 that is required for the transmission drain and fill which is a 45minute job.

Don't let them powerflush the tranny. Tell them to do it your way or take the car home and do it yourself. It's really easy and quick
