98 v70 wheel bolts

Tough w/o photos, but this is my opinion as I have both of the wheels below.
Photo taken from the internet (random photos, not my car) just to illustrate the wheels.

- TOP photo: I think these wheels came with GLT models. I use these wheels in the summer.
- BOTTOM photo: Cetus wheels came with NA models. I use these wheels in the winter (winter tires are mounted on Cetus).

The LONG bolts are used with the wheels in TOP photo.
The SHORT bolts are used with Cetus, this allows the cosmetic cap to snap on.

In the WINTER, I have the Cetus wheels, and since my car is GLT and didn't come with short bolts, I use LONG bolts and they fit Cetus wheels, but I can't put the caps on Cetus since the bolts are the long type.

Not sure what I do is kosher (i.e. using LONG bolts on Cetus), but it has worked during the last 5 winters.
So I am OK with using LONG bolts on my Cetus wheels.

To answer the Original Poster's question, which is the opposite of my issue...
I think you can use the short bolts on the GLT wheels.
Try and report back.

I swap steel wheels for my alloys and use the same chrome lug bolts on both

If you click the link I posted you will see the wheels I bought for about 3 seconds. Then they disappear. It's plenty of time to see them though.

I am about 800 miles away from my car tight now. I was hoping to find out what I need and get them on order if I needed to do that so next weekend I could get new tires and put the new wheels on.

If nobody knows the answer to my question I'll eventually post it.

I actually linked to the eBay auction in an earlier post today and the link works for about 3 seconds and then the photo disappears. You can briefly see the wheels there. Don't beat me up for the shipping price which in my opinion was extreme. The wheels were in very good shape and 37.50 each. Unless shipped FOB anything heavy will cost a fortune to ship.

Thanks for posting that for me. I couldn't figure out how to do it with an iPad. On my PC it wouldn't have been a problem for me but I'm not at my PC recently. Based on the comments I'm leaning toward thinking that the Cetus type bolts will at least work.

Does anyone know what the name is for the wheels I bought? If I knew that I could probably find some info about the bolts required on the internet myself.

OK. I'm back from a 1500 mile road trip (not in my volvo) so I now have access to my own computer and my car. I found the following info about my old and new wheels in this thread https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... 39&t=59248. There is a nice picture there also. My question about the bolts is really just a minor issue other than I am trying to save a few bucks by not having to buy new longer headed bolts (they aint cheap when you have to buy 20). The aftermarket knock offs don't get good reviews because of thin plating ... no real surprise. I'll probably buy some used longer ones ones and be done with it.

Anyhow finding this info below highlighted the fact the the recommended tire size for the two wheels is different. The cetus uses a 195/60/R15 and the naiad uses a 195/65/R15. I know that these tires are essentially the same and the 195/65/R15 is about 3/4" bigger in diameter which will throw off my speedometer slightly if I went with the recommended tire.

Since I plan to use the best of my old tires (195/60/R15) and wheels (cetus) as a full-sized spare I'd like to put new 195/60/R15 tires on my new (previously owned) Naiad wheels. Does anyone see a problem with this? I would guess the wheels are actually the same dimensions and the recommended tire size is what was originally delivered with the car. Is that correct or is there actually a difference?

Unfortunately I didn't research this enough before I bought. The 37.50 (each) price tag was sooooo enticing.

Thanks. I'll work it out. Now I'm wondering about the tire size. Recommended tire size differs slightly between the old wheels and the newer ones I bought. I doubt it matters but if you care to comment check out the latest installment in my posts.

The depth of the head is irrelevant other than for access with a socket, and fitting the center cap. The thread length is the critical factor. It looks to be the same or close. Check a Volvo dealer parts website for characteristics. or call and ask.
